The Outside World
If you are already in a relationship where gaming is enjoyed and you would rather stay inside, then by all means, get your game on. But if you are trying to woo a girl, you’ve gotta be well versed in the outside world. Now, I say girl, because honestly, geek girls don’t need as much help as geek guys - they can simply have their pick of the male geek litter.
To game or not to game - that is the question a Geek Woo guy or gal should be asking. Why? UV light provided by the sun helps your body make Vitamin D, which helps in overall health. (You may even get a slight tan - no, not a monitor tan… -vt)
Anyway, sometimes it’s just nice to go out to the beach. If you are not near a beach, go to the nearest lake and get some sun and breath in some fresh air. Your geekish worries may include mosquitoes, but the right lotion can help ward them off. And I’m sure that the frogs at the lake will help eat those evil mosquito spawn. If you’re not a beach or lake person, why not try the local park? You can go to the movies, yes, but that’s just like being indoors again. The only difference between is that you have to pay to go to the theater and use a seat that a random Joe Blow had farted on (many, many times). No, no - that won’t do. The emphasis of this article is to get you outside. Sure, it’s nice to watch a movie once in a while, but why not do something different on that one day you’re not playing leveling your character in some Massive Game.
Here’s an example date. Start outside in daylight (gasp) and head over to the local ice cream parlor for some frosty treats. Afterwards, walk around town try to do something you are both interested in. Then, head to a nice restaurant. Alternatively, you can make dinner for the one you’re wooing, or you can plan to make it together. If you are serious about wooing this gent or lady, then you yourself should definitely put on the apron and cook for them (feel free to check out our Geek Woo Cooking video podcast coming soon!). Now, guys - if a girl cooks for you, you had better do the dishes - it’s just plain courtesy and is one way to say “Thank You.”
